There’s A ‘Risky’ Way To Reduce Galaxy Z Fold 4 Display Crease

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 4 last month with improved design, durability, and functionality. The company also made the crease on the inner folding display less visible. But it isn’t completely gone, and may often come in the way of content on the screen. Thankfully, there’s a solution if you’re brave enough. Noted Samsung insider Ice Universe says that peeling of the pre-applied screen protector makes the crease appear lighter. He even shared a photo showing a less visible crease on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 against the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

However, this is a rather unwise solution to the problem. Samsung explicitly warns users against removing the screen protector. It is part of the display assembly and helps keep the main display panel safe from scratches and other external forces. The company didn’t include any such warning on the original Galaxy Fold and it ended in a disaster. Many reviewers reported broken or malfunctioning folding screens after removing the pre-applied protector. This fiasco delayed the market debut of the first-ever Samsung foldable.

Considering all this, it may not be a wise idea to do something that the manufacturer recommends not doing. You may end up damaging your $1,800 phone. However, since the Galaxy Z Fold 3 last year, the screen protector seems to be less important to the display assembly. We came across many user reports saying the protectors peeled off on their own. Some brave hearts even dared to manually remove the top layer and the screen didn’t break.

As such, it may be safe enough to remove the protective film from the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s folding display. However, do it with caution, and at your own risk if you feel the crease is affecting your viewing experience. We would never recommend this, though. Don’t forget to tell us your experience in the comments below.

The Galaxy Z Fold 4 is potentially the best foldable yet

Despite the display crease, which is more prominent than foldables from some other brands, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is potentially the best foldable you can buy today. Of course, with a starting price of $1,799, it doesn’t come cheap. But for that price, you get features and functionalities that no other smartphone can offer. It runs Android 12L which brings some awesome features tailored to the big screen, such as the persistent taskbar.
