Badminton: Newly crowned champ Justin takes cautious approach

PETALING JAYA: With three international titles in the bag, Justin Hoh will be the shuttler to beat in the Malaysia Junior International Series smashing off at Putrajaya from today until Sunday.

But the 18-year-old isn’t putting undue pressure on himself to live up to his billing.

”I’m entering this competition with confidence but I did not set any high target that I must meet,” he said. “I’ll take it one match at a time and see how far I’ll go.”

Justin recently won his third international title when he defeated India’s Pranay Shettigar in the Indian Junior International Series final.

His impressive performance has boosted his confidence to go for more titles but delivering on home turf is always a challenge due to the higher expectations.

Justin will open his campaign against Indonesia’s Michael Karamoy, an opponent he has never faced before.

“I’m excited to face a new opponent as it has been a long time since I’ve taken on players from strong countries, such as Indonesia,” said Justin.
